Tuesday's Challenge

So I have an unusual challenge tomorrow morning... a breakfast meeting. I've gotten pretty good at the whole working lunch thing, but breakfast is another story. I usually use about 2-5 points on breakfast, tops. So if I have a big breakfast it could throw off my whole day, including my dinner plans which will be at a restaurant, as well.

Breakfast is at the Hay-Adams (yes, fancy), and here's the menu. It looks like I'll need to stick to that first section of fruits and yogurt. Although a goat cheese, tomato and basil omelet sounds freakin' fantastic. Made with egg beaters? Maybe.....

Or you could get it with egg whites if you want to save a point or two. If I were going I would get that with egg whites (figure 4 points total for the cheese) and dry toast then put jelly on it (another 3 points). It's still 7 points, but the protein will stay with you longer and so you might not need as much for lunch as you would on a normal day - it could be like switching breakfast and lunch then you still have room for your dinner out.

Good luck!

Hey Anon - thanks for the suggestion. I am leaning towards the egg whites option...it's not often that I get a big protein breakfast, so maybe I should take advantage of the opportunity.

What about the belgian waffle (plain) or toasted brioche meal? I feel like if you just eat fruit you'll be starving later....and breakfast is the most important meal of the day. :)

I have to say props to being able to stay on task so well with all the roadblocks coming at yeah for work and social! Bravo.

But I think it might be good advice to switch the breakfast/lunch around this time.

Then for lunch, if the weather clears up, go for a walk around the mall or something?

I'm sure you're at the breakfast as I type this - but a good omlette can keep you full for a long time! Then maybe a salad for lunch? Let us know how it goes...

So, here's what I did. I was all geared up for ordering the egg-white version of the omelet. But, as a staff person at this breakfast meeting, I had to take my cues on what everyone else was ordering and not be too extravagant. And, of course, everyone - even the men - was going for teeny-tiny little things. So I couldn't order the $15 omelet and feel good about it.

I went with the berry parfait and a side of whole wheat toast. Again, because it was a working meal and I did lots of talking, I didn't get to eat that much. I had only about 1 cup of the berry parfait and one piece of buttered toast. I counted it as 4 points for the parfait (granola is very high in pts) and 3 for the toast.

7 points is still kinda high for breakfast for me, and I'm still pretty hungry, but it left plenty of room for me to have a decent lunch and then use Flexies tonight for dinner. Phew!

Well done!
